Linda Evangelista. Naomi Campbell. Christy Turlington. Cindy Crawford. This world-famous foursome redefined what it meant to be a model by originating “super” status decades ago. As emblems of pop culture, fashion and celebrity all wrapped into one, the ’90s supermodels transcended industries and even individual identities. And now, an in-depth Apple TV Plus docu-series is revisiting their rise to the top. They were, as the trailer teases, “larger than life.” This makes their street style all the more iconic.

You see, it was through these documented outings that we got a glimpse of who the legends were as people. Via unexpected pairings and accessorizing accents, there’s a special kind of covert communication embedded in this sartorial self-expression. Here, FASHION breaks down the greatest street style hits of the ’90s supermodels — and how to recreate them.

Linda Evangelista

Thanks to her chameleon-catwalk abilities, Linda Evangelista holds a self-assured legacy in the supermodel sphere. “We don’t wake up for less than $10,000 a day,” she once famously uttered. The above picture — which shows her the Gianni Versace boutique in 1990 — surely explains why. The playful riff on power suiting is both glamorous and laid back, and it oozes know-your-worth confidence.

Uniqlo Pleated Wide Pants

Uniqlo pleated pants

Fitted at the waist with just enough slouch through the legs, these pleated trousers are the coziest way to emulate high-fashion street style. With a high-waisted cut, they can be easily styled with any cropped blouse or blazer. Plus, their elastic waistband is strategically hidden for a breathable wearer experience and a sleek aesthetic finish.

Not to mention, they’re crafted not to cause headaches. Because the first step in having a good time is getting your hair out of your face.

Naomi Campbell

There’s a reason Naomi Campbell lives on basically everyone’s moodboard. From her captivating runway walk to her rumoured fashion feuds, the British model’s presence in the fashion sphere was never lacking personality. Pictured here on her way to an industry party in New York City, the ’90s legend opted for an all-white ensemble with individualized touches via chunky gold jewellery.

Allora Mini Dress

Allora Mini Dress

Similar to Campbell’s monochrome moment, the beauty of a crisp white mini dress is the possibilities it brings. Wear it with an unnecessary belt, layer on some fringe à la Naomi or keep it minimal for the Sofia Richie effect. Pro tip: Keep a crisp white button-up on hand to keep the chill off, and also, as an unexpected dupe in lieu of a handbag.

Christy Turlington

The magic of this look is that it is simultaneously so simple yet so good. Here, Christy Turlington makes the case for relaxed ‘90s cuts, gives a lesson in fall layering and offers inspiration for channelling your inner whimsigoth (the nostalgic TikTok-born aesthetic comprising cardigans, flowy maxi skirts and saturated tones). Seen on her way to a runway show at New York Fashion Week in 1993, her ludicrously capacious bag and glossy boots exude expert street style prowess.

Aritzia Babaton Monocle Shirt

Cut from buttery satin, this long-sleeved button-up blouse is a flowy favourite thanks to its laid-back fit and business-minded collar. Made from recycled materials and available in six colours, it’s a staple for the autumnal days in which you don’t want to think too hard when getting dressed. Take a page from Christy’s book and style it with billowy bottoms for loose and clean-cut silhouette.

Cindy Crawford

Putting a cool girl spin on traditional workwear is kind of Cindy Crawford’s calling card. Off the runway, the supermodel was known for her love of oversized leather jackets, worn both with Levi’s high-waisted jeans and mini skirts. In the above picture — taken in the Winter of 1990 — she paired the key piece with a turtleneck, a preppy tube skirt and a pair of sheer tights.

With his portrayal of Elvis in Sofia Coppola’s upcoming Priscilla Presley biopic, Priscilla, already generating buzz at this year’s Venice Film Festival, Jacob Elordi is having a movie star moment — and his impressive designer bag collection is along for the (stylish) ride.

RELATED: In Defence of the Ludicrously Capacious Handbag

Standing at six feet five inches tall, the Euphoria actor’s height alone gives him a commanding presence, but it’s his timeless and sophisticated fashion sense that has reinforced his stylishly confident persona in recent years. And while Elordi often takes quite a classic approach to dressing, favouring staples like fitted trousers and button-down collared shirts as the foundation for many of his go-to looks, the unconventional addition of a designer handbag to many of his outfits has caught people’s attention.

Adding to Elordi’s mystique is that fact that many of the designer bags he reaches for are from the brands’ women’s collections. (Take the Bottega Veneta Andiamo handbag he’s been favouring.) The Euphoria star has been applauded for eschewing gender norms via his accessory choices.

The actor doesn’t reserve his designer pieces just for special occasions either and has been known spruce up a seemingly simple street style look with a luxe carryall, making the accessories appear all the more true to his personal style.

With a wide range of shoulder bags and crossbody handbags from luxury designers such as Bottega Venetta, Chanel and Celine, Elordi has a wardrobe full of coveted accessories that would make any fashion fan envious.

Here’s our round-up of the best Jacob Elordi designer bag looks so far — and what makes each outfit unique.

Chanel in Venice

Elordi’s Chanel shoulder bag stole the show while promoting Priscilla with director Sofia Coppola at the Venice Film Festival. He let the handbag be the star of the outfit, complementing the standout accessory with a simple white collared shirt and grey, straight-leg trousers for a simple, polished look.

A Louis Vuitton travel look

Using a designer bag as a carry-on is a glam statement that many can only dream of making, but when Elordi touched down at an Italian airport ahead of the Venice Film Festival, he did just that. With his Louis Vuitton Monogram Speedy duffel bag, which is also reportedly known as the “millionaire” bag from Pharrell’s debut collection for the brand, in hand, Elordi’s casual travel outfit was immediately elevated.

A barley-there baguette bag

While out and about in Milan this past June, Elordi hid the tiniest of mini handbags under his arm. The brand isn’t quite visible (could it be a mini Coach Tabby?), the purse still plays a big part in this highly accessorized look. Between his simple T-shirt, jeans and sneakers paired with sunglasses, a bucket hat, a mini baguette bag and the book he’s holding, we can’t help but wonder: 1. What is he reading and, more importantly, 2. what can he possibly fit into that bag?

Bottega with a side of athleisure

In a quintessential celeb off-duty look, Elordi was spotted carrying what appears to be two Starbucks drinks in one hand and the trendy aforementioned Bottega Veneta Andiamo bag on his arm. Featuring the brand’s iconic intrecciato weave, this tote has been regarded as one of 2023’s most popular accessories, so it’s no surprise that it’s found a home in Elordi’s elite collection.

An all-leather Burberry moment

To attend Burberry’s Fall 2022 collection presentation in London, Elordi wore a sleek black and white outfit that was fit for the sophisticated occasion. While the look showcases Elordi’s timeless style sensibilities, the most exciting aspect is how his leather Burberry crossbody bag perfectly matches his leather jacket, even down to the identical white contrast stitching on both pieces.

Megan Thee Stallion (who seemed to clear the air on her possible JT feud on social media) made a triumphantly sexy return to the spotlight at the 2023 Video Music Awards. One month after Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison for her July 2020 shooting, the American rapper walked the VMA red carpet 2023 in a black sheer corset gown by Brandon Blackwood, accessorized with a statement diamond choker by Jacob And Co. And the 28-year-old wasn’t the only musician to opt for a sultry black moment — behold Canadian treasure Nelly Furtado who shimmied down the red carpet in a body-skimming, long-sleeve gown with a dangerously low back. The 44-year-old “Maneater” was ravishing in the Dundas gown which was complemented by a soft bronzed glam.

Elsewhere on the VMAs 2023 pink carpet, besties Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez reunited, wearing black safety-pinned Versace and red lace Oscar de la Renta, respectively. Pop star of the moment Olivia Rodrigo was there as well, donning a disco ball dress by fashion darling Ludovic de Saint Sernin and Swarovski that was covered in 150,000 Swarovski crystals. According to Swarovski, the couture look was hand-sewn in Paris and took 38 hours to create.

Preppy, edgy, cool and youthful — those are just a few descriptors that come to mind regarding the Olivia Rodrigo style evolution the singer’s been on while promoting her newly released sophomore album, Guts.

RELATED: Can I Dress Like Olivia Rodrigo, Please?

Since her first major acting gig at 12 years old, the now 20-year-old actress and singer is proving that she’s come a long way from her Disney Channel days, both with her outfits and newly-matured music. Coming off the heels of her wildly successful debut album Sour, Rodrigo’s Guts has steadily climbed the charts since its release on September 8.

Just look to the thousands of “20-year-old teenage” fans on social media who have been applauding Rodrigo for her honest, raw lyricism as well as the edgy and nostalgic sound of the album. Some have even noted how the record could have easily been the soundtrack to a number of classic teenage movies from the late ’90s and early 2000s (think 10 Things I Hate About You and Freaky Friday).

And it seems that Rodrigo has fully embraced her latest era by taking on a renewed main character energy, one that includes the daring, pop-punk elements of her new sound mixed with the quintessential cool-girl vibe that she’s curated over the years. Lately, Rodrigo’s been pulling off her gutsy new style by opting for some Y2K graphic tees, a series of cute mini-skirts and the classically preppy socks with loafers and Mary Janes look.

As one of Gen Z’s biggest celebrities, Rodrigo’s latest sartorial adventure is solidifying both her pop star and fashion icon status — and it seems like she’s only just getting started.

Check out some of Olivia Rodrigo’s best style moments from her Guts era (so far) below.

Pulling from the fashion archives

A post shared by Olivia Rodrigo (@oliviarodrigo)

While celebrating her new album’s release, Rodrigo showed that she not only knows what works for her style-wise, but that she’s also well-versed in fashion history with this archival look from Todd Oldham’s spring 1995 collection. By combining the white satin cropped button-down that supermodel Shalom Harlow once sported with the glittery gold mini-skirt that fellow super Amber Valletta wore during the duo’s iconic 1995 runway moment, Rodrigo paid homage to one of the most exciting moments in ’90s fashion history while staying true to her youthful and daring style as of late.

The statement graphic T-shirt

Photography by Getty Images

The graphic tee and mini-skirt combo was one of Rodrigo’s go-to outfits this past summer and we’re not mad at it. While out and about in London ahead of the release of Guts, the singer wore a simple grey mini with a vintage-inspired T-shirt featuring rock star Pat Benatar. She completed the look with some very ’90s accessories, including several silver rings, her all-black shades and black Mary Janes with white socks.

A modern take on mod fashion

Photography by Getty Images

In a slight deviation from her usual darker, more overtly grunge style, Rodrigo sported this all-white look in London this summer. In a fuzzy mini-dress from Patou (that actually features a small triangle cutout in the front, which Rodrigo opted to hide by cleverly wearing the dress backwards) and knee-high white patent leather boots, Rodrigo seemed to be taking a break from her usual ’90s-inspired style for a more 1960s-themed look. But since mod style was actually known to be at the forefront of “risky” fashion at the time, Rodrigo may have been sticking to her edgy style persona with this look after all.

A virtual pop-punk look

To promote her album by hosting a virtual meet and greet inside of a Target (which has since gone viral for it’s slightly dystopian tone), Rodrigo looked the part of a futuristic pop-punk superstar. The singer wore a black tank top with a plaid red skirt (a fashion favourite for Rodrigo) and a matching red lip. What really tied the outfit together though were the knee-high black patent leather heeled boots that the pop star used to complete the look.

Floral with a twist

Photography by Getty Images

For a Guts pop-up event in NYC, Rodrigo wore a classic little black dress with a bold twist in a vintage Betsey Johnson number adorned with flowers. For an extra pop of colour, the singer matched her red strappy heels and signature red lip back to the frock’s rosettes.

With its on-the-court style, not to mention the chic spectator looks in the stands, tennis is fashion’s favourite sport. And, luckily enough for those of us who weren’t blessed with Serena Williams-like athletic abilities, tennis tournaments give us the opportunity to witness stellar courtside celebrity style moments — and the 2023 U.S. Open fashion is no exception.

RELATED: What the Best-Dressed Celebrities Wore to Wimbledon

Michelle Obama’s surprise appearance got the tournament going at an A-list pace when it comes to celebrity tennis fans. On the fashion front, and likely due to the current heatwave across most of the U.S. and Canada, summery staples such as midi-dresses, light colours and florals appear to be ruling the stands.

For what may be your last dose of sunny, sporty style until next summer, check out our round-up of the best celebrity U.S. Open fashion moments from this year’s tournament.

Casual black (and a romantic soft launch)

Photography by Getty Images

To make their first appearance as a couple (not counting the paparazzi footage from Beyoncé’s recent L.A. show!), Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet took in a little tennis. For their day date, the couple kept is casual, with the Kylie Skin founder in a basic black T-shirt, jeans, wraparound sunnies and chunky hoop earrings, and the actor in a grey tee, black zip-up hoodie and baseball cap. Young, in love and without a care in the world!

Ladylike luxe

Photography by Getty Images

For an afternoon in the stands, comedian Ziwe and model Emily Ratajkowski opted for elegant polish. Ziwe wore a cropped yellow tweed with what looks like a matching mini-skirt, while EmRata chose a grey knit dress and knee-high boots.

Elevated denim

Photography by Getty Images

You can never go wrong with straight-leg jeans and neutrals separates, which is exactly why Katie Holmes’ tennis style looks so timeless. The actress complimented her denim trousers and cream tank with a dark shoulder bag, matching sunglasses and trendy ballet flats. But, what really makes the outfit is her carefully knotted Miu Miu sweater that she threw over her shoulders for a quiet luxury-goes-to-tennis look.

Sleek suiting

Photography by Getty Images

Emma Watson attended a match in a tailored daytime pantsuit for a vibe that was polished but still easygoing. She completed the black and white look with a black tank top, skinny belt, small handbag and open-toe, flat sandals.

Bright and sunny

Photography by Getty Images

Queen Latifah was all smiles to take in some tennis, and her outfit complemented her vibe. The icon paired a Jimi Hendrix graphic tee with a bright orange cargo skirt and bold accessories for a standout look.

A rare matching moment

Photography by Getty Images

In a rare move for the Biebers, who are well-known for their apparent aversion to complementing each other’s outfits, this celeb couple looked very much in sync in matching oversized leather jackets. Their individual styles still shone through as they paired their looks with their own signature accessories, of course.

Keeping it casual

Chloë Grace Moretz (right) looked laidback in a navy blue baby tee with white trim which she accessorized with black cat-eye sunglasses.

All black everything

Women’s rights activist and social justice legend Gloria Steinem (!) attended the tournament in a sophisticated all-black outfit. Though she kept it simple with her black pants and top, Steinem dressed up the look with an statement gold belt that tied the look together.

Green floral

Photography by Getty Images

Who said florals were just for spring? Not Anna Wintour, that’s for sure. The Vogue editor and well-known tennis fan sported a collared midi-dress covered in a bright green floral print. Wintour completed the botanic moment with a cream-coloured skinny belt, matching boots, an off-white clutch and a blue jewelled necklace.

All white everything

Photography by Getty Images

You can never go wrong with a crisp white outfit for a tennis match and country star Maren Morris proved just that with her chic outfit. The singer opted for a classic white tank dress with a square neckline and completed the look with matching white accessories, including a shoulder bag and thong sandals.

TIFF might be lighter on stars than usual this year, but there was still plenty of sparkle at the 2023 TIFF Tribute Awards gala on September 10. Under the twinkling chandeliers of the Fairmont Royal York Hotel where Hollywood royalty Marlene Dietrich and Alfred Hitchcock once laid their weary heads to rest, Spike Lee and Pedro Almodóvar were among this year’s recipients. Both directors delivered moving speeches about how filmmaking can advance social and political justice.

But it was the women who brought the bling both onstage and the red carpet.

Diamond earrings swung from architect Diane Bald’s lobes as she and her husband, Roots co-founder Michael Budman, introduced the inaugural Norman Jewison Career Achievement award, which went to Shawn Levy, best known for directing and executive producing Stranger Things. Vicky Krieps, who is starring with Viggo Mortensen in The Dead Don’t Hurt and took home the Tribute Performer “trophy” – that’s what her kids told her to call it – dazzled in a silver mini-skirted suit. And The Share Her Journey Groundbreaker Award presented by Bulgari went to Patricia Arquette, who was lavishly outfitted by the luxury jeweller in their Serpenti diamond necklace, Serpenti Viper diamond ring and Serpenti diamond earrings and bracelet with emerald eyes.

Oscar winner Arquette is a fourth-generation actor and something of Hollywood royalty herself and was praised by Camila Morrone for being, “as fierce a mother, as she is an activist, as she is an actress.” Arquette directed Morrone and Willem Dafoe in Gonzo Girl, which had its world premiere on TIFF opening night.

Stop everything: Hailey and Justin Bieber left the house looking like they’re attending the same event. Perhaps in response to the social media criticism over their very mismatched looks for Hailey’s Rhode Strawberry Glaze promotional tour, the couple have surprisingly sported two very rare complementary outfits in the days since.

First, the Biebers were spotted in a matching leather jacket moment sitting courtside at a 2023 U.S. Open Tennis Championship game on September 1. While their oversized black jackets and simple white tank tops where in sync, they showcased their individual styles with the rest of their outfits. Hailey paired the look with a white mini-dress and her signature “B” pendant necklace, while Justin played up his outfit with statement accessories like a backwards polka-dot baseball hat and pink Loewe balloon unglasses.

Photography by Getty Images

If their complementary tennis looks weren’t enough to prove that the couple were on the same page style-wise, they sported even more matchy outfits on September 5. Two coordinated looks in the same week may be a new record for the couple! Stepping out for a date night, the Biebers wore loose-fitting denim, tight white tanks and oversized leather jackets. The biggest differences once again came down to the accessories, with Justin wearing a backwards cap and sneakers while Hailey opted for narrow shades and black Chanel loafers, which she paired with white socks for a preppy vibe.

It must be hard to be a celebrity in a relationship, no? Your dating timeline is basically public knowledge. Slightly humiliating monikers like “Bennifer” and “Tay-Squared” are unavoidable. And your street style as a couple is treated as a marker of your compatibility. But Hailey and Justin Bieber — in all their mismatched glory — don’t seem phased by this.

The A-list couple, who tied the knot in 2018, are frequently photographed out and about looking like they’re headed to entirely different functions. Hailey leans form-fitting and polished, while Justin is reliably dressed down and baggy. It’s almost as if they purposely skew as far as they can from one another when getting dressed. And you know what? It works.

Case in point: The pair is currently in New York City, and their sartorial contradictions are on full display. While out and about to promote Rhode’s latest launch — the Strawberry Glaze flavoured Lip Peptide Treatment — Hailey Bieber went all out in a fiery red structured mini-dress with monochromatic heels and a matching bag. As for Justin? A grey sweatsuit set, a backwards baseball cap and a pair of yellow Crocs.

A month earlier, the married duo were spotted leaving a restaurant in similarly contrasting clothing. Hailey sported a summery white mini-dress with a tasteful asymmetrical collarbone cut-out, while Justin wore XL jeans, a half-zipped hoodie and yet another baseball cap. See a theme?

Hailey Bieber and Justin Bieber
Photography by Getty Images

On a May 10 dinner date, Hailey went full Matrix fashion in a leather maxi and bralette with pointed heels. Justin, on the other hand, wore a white tank, low-slung jeans and worker boots. This seems not like a simple vibe difference, but a deeper commitment to being so visually contrary that the untrained eye would think, “Hm, I wonder why these two strangers are holding hands.”

Said dress code conundrum was the case yet again on a date night in April. Hailey’s ensemble? Pointed-toe heels, chic sheer tights and a halter LBD. Justin’s? Sweatshirt, baseball cap, and slides, if we’re being generous (but slippers if we’re being serious).

It was the same deal in the winter, at the grand opening of OBB Studios in Los Angeles. Mrs. Bieber was decked out in Schiaparelli couture with gold accessories, while her husband was in paint-stained jeans, a Drew House sweater and a pink beanie.

At this point, this sort of outright outfitting confusion is part of the couple’s style DNA. Historians will tell you that back in 2021, on a much-publicized outing in Paris, Hailey Bieber dazzled in a pink Miu Miu cocktail dress while Justin donned a slouchy red hoodie. Moral of the story? They almost never look in sync, and maybe that’s the point.

The garments worn by Hollywood couples tend to be taken as symbols of synchronicity. Tom Holland has a “Z” emblazoned on certain pairs of pants, which fans speculate is an understated ode to Zendaya. More alarmingly, Machine Gun Kelly accessorized with a vial of Megan Fox’s blood around his neck during their courtship. But Hailey and Justin Bieber take a decidedly different approach: dedicated inconsistency. Olivia Broussard (@olivialayne6) recently went viral on TikTok pointing out this phenomenon. “Is one of them overdressed or is the other one underdressed?” Broussard mused, flashing a series of photos of the duo on screen. “I cannot tell by looking at these outfits.”

There are, as with everything in life, exceptions to this pattern. Sometimes, the Biebers will appear delightfully harmonious. Take an April outing in L.A., where they both sported baggy jeans, a staple of low-effort, versatile dressing. Hailey completed her look with kitten heels and a crop top, while Justin went for a hoodie and sneakers. Here, despite their differences, the pair were decidedly in equilibrium. But this is not usually the case.

More often than not, Hailey is dressed to the nines while Justin looks unbothered and relaxed. She’ll wear a luxe Saint Laurent fur coat, and he’ll be in bug-eye sunnies and patterns layered with reckless abandon. For them, that’s normal. And sure, it’s a little jarring. She’s giving high-fashion, he’s giving Adam Sandler with a jar of pickles. But perhaps their drastically different dressing methods signal two partners that are secure in their relationship. They’re wearing what they want, and not judging one another for it.

Photography by Getty Images

What’s the purpose of painstakingly coordinating with your significant other, anyhow? To present an image of unity to the world? To convince onlookers that you’re on the same page? The Biebers, and all their incongruous outfits, take this notion and flip it on its head. What’s next for these two and their contrasting street styles? I’m not sure. But in all likelihood, nothing will make sense. And I’ll love it.

We all know that Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour has been taking both the music and fashion worlds by storm since its first stop in Stockholm, Sweden back in May. And now, with the help of countless celebrities turning up in their absolute best looks, her recent shows at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles may have taken the (birthday) cake.

RELATED: Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour Beauty Looks Are Pure Perfection

To celebrate her 42nd birthday, Queen Bey hosted three shows in L.A. and even had a very special concert on her actual birthday on September 4. The Beyday concert included surprise performances by Kendrick Lamar, who joined Beyoncé on stage for their song “America Has a Problem,” and Diana Ross, who led approximately 60,000 fans in singing “Happy Birthday” to the superstar birthday girl.

The special on-stage guests were just the tip of the iceberg in terms of famous attendees at the Renaissance shows, though. From Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, it seems that just about every A-lister you could think of attended at least one of Beyoncé’s L.A. shows. Naturally, many celebrities also complied with Beyoncé’s Virgo season silver dress code request and turned up in their very best metallic and sparkly “concert dressing” looks.

In honour of what some fans are calling “the biggest music/fashion/celebrity event of the year,” here’s a round-up of the very best celebrity looks from Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour birthday shows in Los Angeles.

The Kardashians

Photography by Getty Images

The Kardashian crew showed up at Monday night’s show in style — and they even brought along Kourtney’s daughter, Penelope, and Kim’s daughter, North, for the special occasion. The little cousins were in on the metallic dress code, matching in head-to-toe silver ensembles by Diesel. The rest of the family also followed the theme of the night, with Kim sporting a bedazzled crystal top and matching purse, Khloé wearing silver pants that matched Penelope and North’s looks, and Kris donning a fully metallic outfit complete with an oversized trench coat and shades.

Gabrielle Union

For her first of two looks, Gabrielle Union tried her hand at the sheer dressing trend, sporting a see-through chainmail dress from The New Arrivals over a metallic silver bra and underwear set. The actress completed the outfit with matching silver shoes, Tiffany & Co. jewellery, and a Valentino handbag.

Kerry Washington, Kelly Rowland and Meghan Markle

In a rare public outing for Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex posed for a photo alongside actress Kerry Washington and Beyoncé’s former Destiny’s Child bandmate, Kelly Rowland. Washington sported a shimmery black top and a sparkling silver purse. To attend her third show of the weekend, Rowland wore a glossy strapless black corset with a silver choker necklace and matching face jewels. For her second time seeing Queen Bey that weekend (she was also spotted wearing a sparkling, sequinned tube skirt by SPRWMN as she danced with Prince Harry during Friday night’s concert), Markle donned a metallic silver skirt and black halter top for a very Renaissance-esque look.

Tracee Ellis Ross

A post shared by Tracee Ellis Ross (@traceeellisross)

We simply couldn’t discuss celebrity looks at Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour birthday stops without mentioning Tracee Ellis Ross. Captioning an Instagram post of her outfit “she said wear silver,” the actress proved that she was taking Beyoncé’s dress code request literally with her oversized silver sequinned dress from Rabanne.

Vanessa Hudgens

In a very Beyoncé-inspired look, Vanessa Hudgens wore a silver sequinned halter minidress with an edgy slit and matching shimmery blazer. But, it was the accessories that really made this look shine. Hudgens completed her outfit with a long, silver chain necklace, cool-girl sunglasses and a massive black, glittery fan reminiscent of the one Beyoncé uses during the show to perform her hit “Heated.”

Zendaya, Ayo Edebiri, Quinta Brunson and Tom Holland

Have you ever seen a more stylish friend group? Beyoncé certainly noticed the on-theme crew, even giving a special shout-out to Zendaya during the concert. Zendaya wore a sparkly ensemble with a crop top, oversized jacket and shorts set, silver hoops and matching pumps. While they weren’t matching, Tom Holland complemented his girlfriend’s decked-out outfit nicely by wearing a leather jacket and a Renaissance Tour T-shirt. The Bear star Ayo Edebiri also abided by the dress code with a shimmery cowl neck top, while Quinta Brunson stunned in a metallic Rick Owens cutout mini-dress with sparkly knee-high boots.

Issa Rae

The Barbie actress was all smiles as she shimmied to show off the chrome effect of the metallic-panelled, two-piece set she wore to one of Bey’s birthday shows.

Keke Palmer

Palmer took her outfit in a slightly different direction than many of the other celebrities at Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour, wearing a black strapless mini-dress by Sergio Hudson. She remained on-theme by pairing the dress with a bedazzled black denim jacket and a sparkly choker necklace. The star took the look one step further by amplifying her glam with silver eyeshadow and matching metallic highlights in her curly hair.

Hailey Bieber

Hailey Bieber stepped away from her recent “strawberry girl summer” attire for Beyoncé’s concert, sporting a somewhat casual, yet still Renaissance-inspired, look for the night. The Rhode founder wore a simple black tank top and dark grey miniskirt with her hair pulled back into a slicked-back bun that allowed for her silver bulb earrings to shine.

Sofía Vergara

The former Modern Family star danced the night away with moves that would’ve made Bey proud in a sequinned maxi-skirt and black tube top.

Diana Ross

As one of Monday night’s very special guests of honour, Ms. Ross wore a black gown with sequinned detailing to perform her 1975 hit “Love Hangover” and led the crowd in singing “Happy Birthday” to Beyoncé. The legendary artist paired the dress with a black feather boa shawl and diamond chandelier earrings for a truly glamorous look.

We’re not sure what we’re more jealous of, Dua Lipa’s seemingly endless beach vacation or her perfectly chill seaside style.

When she hasn’t been busy at the pink carpet premieres of the Barbie movie, the “Dance The Night” singer has been sharing countless fashionable social media posts of herself touring ancient ruins in Greece, frolicking around beautiful Mediterranean islands and visiting her home country of Albania — and those are just a few of her recent travel stops.

And while Lipa’s apparently never-ending vacation has been one of the internet’s favourite jokes of the summer, her holiday looks have been seriously stylish.

Whether she’s been soaking up the sun on a sailboat, reading by the water, or partaking in a perfectly timed sunset photoshoot on the beach, Lipa has stunned in everything from cute bikinis and crocheted two-piece sets to silky mini dresses.

Since we’ve spent so much of summer 2023 in awe of her holiday looks, here’s a round-up of the best vacation style moments from the seemingly endless Dua Lipa beach holiday.

A polished evening look

To enjoy quality family time while visiting Albania, Lipa donned a silky white button-down shirtdress outfitted with long, cuffed sleeves for a very quiet luxury-inspired look. Allowing the crisp simplicity of the dress to shine, the singer complemented the garment with a high, slicked-back bun, silver jewellery and a matching woven handbag.

Embracing the “island girl” lifestyle

While soaking up summer in Sifnos, Greece, Lipa sported a series of chic but laidback vacation outfits. First up was a simple black bikini she later wore with a black, sequined crocheted cover-up. The look was accessorized with a woven Bottega Veneta shoulder bag and favourite vacay sandals. Next up was a breezy one-shoulder green satin look that she wore with her hair in loose waves and gold jewellery. For another evening look, Lipa opted for an edgy asymmetrical mini-dress with a sneaky cutout over her upper thigh that she paired with kitten heels, chunky silver earrings and a slicked-back braided ponytail hairdo.

Posing beachside at sunset

To pose cliffside at an Albanian beach, Lipa sported a chic backless mini-dress from Celine. The singer paired the look with simple jewellery and makeup for a relaxed sunset look.

Sailing through the Mediterranean

As she “sailed through the Peloponnese,” Lipa showed off a cool-girl boating outfit, featuring a baby pink maxi-skirt, plaid bikini and an unbuttoned white blouse that flowed blissfully in the Mediterranean sea breeze.

Dancing the night away

The caption of this post says it all. During her most recent summer holiday in Ibiza, Dua Lipa stepped out in an edgy evening look that screams vacation. Lipa sported a draped, velvet romper over a tulle Gucci bra with lots of eye-catching gold Chanel accessories and a tiny metallic shoulder bag for a look that, as she said herself, belongs on a dance floor.

Amal Clooney brings a special kind of style prowess to the celebrity fashion world. Working behind the scenes as a human rights attorney, the 45-year-old star (and wife to George Clooney) doesn’t typically spend her days in front of the camera. But when we do get a glimpse at her elegant outfits, they’re reliably put-together, polished, and professional. The best part of this formula? Her impeccable eye for vintage fashion.

RELATED: Kendall Jenner’s Best Style Moments

With a taste for refined silhouettes and clean-cut tailoring, Amal Clooney is an expert at curating retro-leaning ensembles. Though she has a penchant for 1960s designs, her references span decades — from flapper-inspired ’fits to 2000s-era couture. Each time, these looks are accessorized to perfection for a fresh modern spin on otherwise classic oeuvres. And with a crisply-dressed George as her complementary plus-one, Amal Clooney shines when serving sartorial history lessons. Below, FASHION rounded up her best vintage-inspired looks yet.

The 1960s mini-dress moment

The 2023 Venice Film Festival kicked off on August 30, and a day earlier, Amal Clooney arrived in the Italian city in true vintage style. Sporting sheer slingbacks (a.k.a. an elevated take on trending mesh flats) and a matching black handbag, her floral-printed shift stood out as a nod to 1960s-era mini-dresses. With its minimalist detailing, the archetypal shift dress de-emphasizes the waist for a structured look that is both comfortable and chic. What better getup to kick off a notoriously hectic festival?

The nineties bridal look

A post shared by TAB VINTAGE (@tabvintage)

Earlier this summer, Amal Clooney put a vintage spin on the minimalist bridalwear mood of the moment — sans wedding, of course. On a dinner date with her husband of eight years in Lake Como, Italy (where the couple share a summer house — NBD), the philanthropist was spotted in a gauzy slip dress from the spring/summer 1999 Christian Dior by John Galliano collection. With ever-so-subtle lace embroidery and dainty ruffled detailing, it honed in on the sophisticated simplicity of nineties-era going-out clothes.

The 1920s-inspired eveningwear

Flapper fashion, but make it Versace. This is the energy Amal Clooney brought to the 2022 Albie Awards — an event established by the Clooney Foundation to honour “courageous defenders of justice” across the globe. Designed by Donatella Versace specifically for the occasion, the gold fringe gown was dripping in intricate gilded embellishments. She finished the look with voluminous side-part waves and a bold red lip for an all-around retro mood. The best part? Flappers are famous for pushing back on unfair societal constraints. So for an affair celebrating just that, this reference feels all the more right.

The impressive archival pull

Photography by Getty Images

What exactly does one wear to spend an evening with the royals? For Amal Clooney, the decision seems easy. At the Prince’s Trust dinner in 2019, she donned a one-shouldered Jean-Louis Scherrer by Stephane Rolland gown, sourced from the luxury boutique William Vintage. The (haute couture!) ensemble came from the designer’s 2007 collection and featured an asymmetrical cascading cape. Paired with a box clutch and side-swept soft curls, the ensemble captured the essence of Old Hollywood glamour.

The retro career uniform

Photography by Getty Images

In April 2022, two months after Russia invaded Ukraine, Amal Clooney visited the United Nations in New York to advocate for war victims wearing a decidedly to-the-point ensemble. Her look of choice? A vintage Christian Dior polka dot skirt set. The top flared into a subtle peplum silhouette, while the pencil skirt hit slightly above the knees. It’s an outfit she previously wore when speaking at the Supreme Court in London in 2015. With the addition of large ’60s sunglasses this time around, the ensemble felt like a vestiary acknowledgement of the 1960s working woman image.

The mod maternity outing

Photography by Getty Images

While pregnant in 2017, Amal Clooney put a refined retro spin on the coveted French Girl style. The star stepped out in Paris wearing a crisp ivory dress-and-coat set adorned with sharp black square-shaped piping. The look — sourced from William Vintage — reportedly dates back to 1965 and appears reminiscent of the fashion icons of that era. It’s breathable, smart, and perhaps her most classically vintage serve yet.

There are few celebrities who have modern fashion girlies in a chokehold quite like Hailey Bieber. Between the elevated simplicity of her street style looks and her glam red carpet moments to her knack for turning just about anything into a beauty trend, Bieber continues to be a blueprint for copycat-worthy style.

The model and Rhode brand founder has had quite the public style evolution. From sporting skinny leather pants and high-top sneakers during the 2010s to her often sophisticated looks of today, Bieber’s style has hit its stride.

And, despite being labelled as a “double nepo baby” by New York Magazine because of her famous father and husband, Bieber has managed to carve out her own fashion forward personal brand for herself that sets her apart — and she’s had fun while doing it.

In honour of her luxurious yet seemingly attainable style, we’re rounding up some of Hailey Bieber’s best looks of 2023.

August 2023

Bieber wore a series of red ensembles to promote the launch of her Strawberry Glaze flavoured Lip Peptide Treatment in NYC, including this sweet scarlet mini-dress. She paired the strapless number with strawberry earrings and matching red mules.

Photography by Getty Images

Earlier that same day, Bieber sported fall’s hottest colour in head-to-toe red for an appearance on Good Morning America. The monochromatic look exuded old Hollywood glamour with Bieber pairing the romantic off-the-shoulder Vivienne Westwood tea-length dress with matching Maison Ernest stilettos and a chic patent leather handbag by Ferragamo. Staying on theme, the model’s iconic bob was styled into a deep side part and she further accessorized the look with elegant jewellery, including gold hoops, a wristwatch and a collection of rings.

Photography by Getty Images

For dinner with fellow supermodel BFFs Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid in Los Angeles, Bieber wore a vintage white Versace mini-dress covered in trippy yellow and orange dots. She paired the citrus-inspired dress with a matching orange Bottega Veneta clutch, white heeled sandals and a “B” pendant necklace for a very end-of-summer look.

July 2023

The off-duty model sported this denim-on-denim look while out and about in L.A. By pairing the quintessential white crop top and baggy jorts combination with a dark denim Calvin Klein jacket and pair of classic gold Brinker + Eliza earrings, Bieber elevated the outfit beyond just errand-running attire. She kept it casual by sporting a pair of trendy black Adidas Samba sneakers and crew-length white socks.

June 2023

A Hailey Bieber style round-up would be incomplete without this head-turning look. The A-lister spent a night out in NYC in full-on Barbiecore, stepped out in this glittery rose-coloured Vivienne Westwood bustier mini-dress. To accessorize, Bieber opted for a slicked-back hairstyle, glowy pink makeup, dainty Tiffany & Co. diamond necklace and earrings, transparent Gianvito Rossi heels and a matching sparkly purse.

Photography by Getty Images

Has any other celeb been a bigger advocate for jorts this summer than Mrs.Bieber? The model went full-on dad mode with this white monochromatic look, paired her baggy jorts from Loulou Studio with a skinny belt, her go-to micro-sunnies an a sock and sandal combination that defied all known fashion rules. With the help of a stylish Bottega Veneta bag and her signature brown bob, Bieber elevated the outfit from dad-chic to just plain chic.

May 2023

Photography by Getty Images

Tonal dressing? Check. Oversized coat? Check. White crew socks and loafers? Check! For one of the most stylish coffee runs ever attempted, Bieber paired a dramatic camel coat with a matching belted miniskirt, a simple black top, preppy black loafers and white socks.

March 2023

Strolling hand-in-hand after a brunch date with her husband in L.A., Hailey wore an interesting ‘fit with several elements that shouldn’t have necessarily worked together but totally did. The model wore yellow corduroy pants and a white top with Jil Sander heeled mules, a fuzzy orange-red coat and a red Yankees baseball cap. Despite the seemingly clashing pieces, the outfit was brought together by Bieber’s mini shearling Bottega Veneta bag that complimented the coat’s texture while matching her pants and mules perfectly.

February 2023

In a cooler weather look that many of us Canadians can appreciate, Bieber stepped out for a coffee date with singer Justine Skye wearing a black bomber-style jacket and her usual black sunglasses, simple gold earrings and slick-backed bun. But, in a move that would only work during an *L.A.* winter, she juxtaposed the oversized coat with a pair of black biker shorts.

It’s difficult to express how thrilling it was to have Kirsten Owen, Coco Rocha, Jessica Stam, Irina Lăzăreanu and Winnie Harlow together on-set for our September cover shoot. We wanted a powerhouse of Canadian modelling talent for this issue, and we sure got it. At times, I felt like I was watching an elite modern-dance troupe improvise a new work. These women’s body awareness, lack of inhibition, ability to play off one another and understanding of lighting and angles really drove home the difference between “model” and “supermodel.”

RELATED: Introducing FASHION’s September Cover Stars: 5 Iconic Canadian Supermodels

All except Harlow, who began modelling in 2014, could be considered veterans, having had decades to hone their skills. “Those of us who started 20 or 30 years ago have had a long time and a lot of experience to build our confidence,” declared Lăzăreanu, who grew up in Montreal and was a muse of Karl Lagerfeld’s. “I’m sure that when we first started out, none of us were the models we are today.” Indeed, Rocha admitted that “it has definitely taken years to make it this,” referring to her explosive style of movement that has landed her on approximately 200 magazine covers, from Toronto to Tokyo.

At age 53, Owen is the eldest of the group, and what a privilege to see her in action — there is a powerful force within her that seems to take over when she is in front of the camera, to the point where she is sometimes unrecognizable. And I could hardly take my eyes off of Stam and Harlow — both radiate elegance and beauty whether they are performing on-set or relaxing in a makeup chair.

It was also revealing to hear Rocha, Stam, Owen and Lăzăreanu reminisce about working together in the aughts and compare their views of their profession to those of some young women today. “Modelling is not ‘how to take a selfie,’” lamented Lăzăreanu, alluding to how anyone with a social media account seems to think they are a model. And then there’s the matter of those who believe they are free to dictate hair, makeup and wardrobe. “I’ll wear whatever I’m told to wear,” Rocha shared. “But girls today will say ‘That doesn’t fit my image.’ They put themselves before the job.”

Of course, the logistics of getting five supers together in a Brooklyn studio were overwhelming and involved flights from as far away as Hawaii, where Stam lives. And I counted 63 pairs of shoes, 40+ pairs of boots, 16 curling irons and flatirons, hundreds of fake nails, wigs and hairpieces and eight jam-packed rolling racks that day.

As I left around 6:30 p.m. to catch my flight home, our cover stars were still going strong, and I told them how much I admired their stamina — I was completely drained, even though I’d done little more than scribble in a notepad and record their interviews.

On the heels of a messy split from Justin Timberlake, the pop star’s decision to don such a pointed statement on a highly documented outing was iconic, slightly petty, and a work of literary genius. You see, before the world had Instagram Stories, TikTok confessionals, and Notes app declarations, we had graphic baby tees.

The format of the garment is pretty straightforward: typically cropped in length, often snugly fitted, and always featuring a buzzy slogan of sorts. Within this framework lies a special kind of sartorial statement that played a pivotal role in Y2K fashion. Historically, the baby tee has been adopted by public-facing young women — like Britney Spears — who were subjects of tabloid gossip and perpetual paparazzi attention. While coming of age in the spotlight, these stars were unfairly positioned as vapid bimbos. Through cheeky one-liner sartorial zingers, they nodded at their reductive reputations by leaning into them. Think Paris Hilton wearing a “Don’t Be Jealous” top. Or Drew Barrymore going out in a shirt that says, “My Boyfriend Is Out Of Town.” It’s bold, irreverent, and most importantly, main character energy.

Photography by Getty Images

Back in the aughts, Britney Spears in particular was always at the centre of salacious public speculation. So naturally, she had a penchant for tops with cheeky retorts. Amid invasive assumptions about her virginity, she wore a shirt that said, “I’m A Virgin. (This Is An Old T-Shirt.)”. While getting body shamed during her pregnancy, she went out in a tank that read, “I have the Golden Ticket,” with an arrow pointing to her baby bump. Lives were changed!

The significance of the baby tee — in all its minced-worded silliness — is that it makes you think. Like a personalized billboard, it’s blunt, to the point, and meant to be seen. Emblazoned with a quippy catchphrase, a nonsensical logo or a snide remark (à la Britney), it takes gall to wear one. Perhaps that’s why they always look good. In 1995, Naomi Campbell wore a chic baby tee to a fashion forward red carpet. In 2004, Anne Hathaway let the world know she was “Fed Up” through a deliciously random FedEx pun. Last winter, Hailey Bieber dipped her toe into baby tee discourse with a viral self-deprecating “Nepo Baby” shirt.

It’s worth acknowledging that this style — like with any look that relies on exposed skin — has been predominately praised on thin people. But the assertive essence of the baby tee transcends body shape. And in 2023, baby tees are not just for sample-size stars. They’re for anyone with a message to send or a penchant for causing double-take confusion. Got something to say? Do as Britney Spears would do, and wear it on your baby tee.

From snappy taglines to jazzed-up logos, below are the best baby tees on the market right now.

The Unbothered Baby Tee

The first step in selecting this top is assuming that everyone wants to make plans with you. That takes a certain level of confidence that we should all strive to acquire! With a lightweight fabric and an intentionally aloof message, this Superdown piece captures the essence of the Y2K fashion baby tee. Throw it on for a hot summer day and pretend you’re being papped for the full early aughts experience.

The Sustainable Baby Tee

Looking for a way to honour the planet? This T-shirt’s got you. Launched in honour of Earth Month back in April, the Reformation top is made of eco-friendly stretch rib fabric while keeping the baby tee quippy energy alive. Best of all? The cutesy riff on “Mother Earth” will no doubt confuse and delight onlookers.

The High-Fashion Baby Tee

Gen-Z favourite label Heaven by Marc Jacobs knows is skilled at tapping into returning trends from the ’90s and 2000s. Naturally, its take on the 2023 baby tee is nostalgic, fresh and perfect when paired with either baggy cargo pants or a feminine mini-skirt. This logo-adorned garment features the brand’s double-headed bear emblem and a stylized “Heaven” print.

The Self-Assured Baby Tee

As the saying (sort of) goes, you are what you wear. And sometimes, you just have to put on a shirt that makes you feel better. For the days when you’re not feeling so sure of yourself, what better choice than this “Genius At Work” tee by designer Danielle Guizio? If it looks like it could have come from Paris Hilton’s closet circa 2004, it’s an immediate yes.

The Britney Spears Dupe Baby Tee

Verbally dolling out unsolicited relationship advice? Kind of annoying. Wearing said advice on your shirt? Inexplicably, a great choice! In honour of Y2K-era Britney Spears herself, this “Dump Him” replica is both a beloved pop culture reference and perhaps a wake-up call for unsuspecting passersby.

The Minimalist Baby Tee

In an era of quiet luxury and increasingly subtle outfits, perhaps a grabby graphic isn’t your style. This clean baby tee by Canadian brand Kotn has the beloved silhouette of the noughties garment with a refined 2023 appeal. Inspired by ’90s fashion, the wardrobe staple is decidedly void of logos. And with low-key lifestyles becoming their own kind of trend, that’s a statement in and of itself.

Celebrity nuptials are famously fussy affairs. So it feels pretty unusual when an A-list wedding can wrangle half of Hollywood and still feel…chill. And yet, this was the vibe curated by bride Margaret Qualley over the weekend.

RELATED: The Irresistible Spectatorship of Sofia Richie’s Wedding

ICYMI: The 28-year-old actor just tied the knot with musician Jack Antonoff in New Jersey, and from the high-profile guest list alone, it had all the makings of an extravagant affair. Taylor Swift’s fans swarmed the venue to see her. Lana Del Rey’s plastic slides were tried in dress code court. But when it came to the bride herself, the sartorial mood was the lowest of low-key.

For the weekend-long affair, Qualley deviated from bridal norms. She had a tousled bob instead of an intricate updo. She stuck to flats instead of heels. Even her collection of gowns was decidedly simple. For the ceremony, she wore an ankle-length halter dress, with crisp white buckled Mary Janes and dainty earrings. At the after-party, she switched into a breezy drop-waist frock with frothy sleeves. This was not dissimilar to her rehearsal-dinner look, comprised of an A-line tea-length dress with soft pleats and subtle corseting.

It’s suspected that each ensemble was made by Chanel, as Qualley is an ambassador for the luxury brand. But her gowns are so decidedly subtle that it’s honestly hard to tell. And perhaps this mystique is the point.

Her noticeably pared-down aesthetic feels like an intentional shift from celebrity weddings of the moment. Just a few months ago, Sofia Richie set the tone for aspirational nuptials with a fête that broke the internet. Held at a five-star hotel in the south of France (that was completely rented out for the event, naturally), her wedding was a visual feast of opulent decor and detailed ensembles — served up to the world in a Vogue exclusive. Despite many deeming Richie 2.0 the queen of quiet luxury with her tastefully expensive everything, the event was loud and luxe, setting a public expectation for front-row access to A-list weddings.

But coinciding with a roster of muted bridal looks, Margaret Qualley and Jack Antonoff’s wedding pushed back on this example. Despite a presumably high destination budget and guest list spanning from Zoë Kravitz to Cara Delevingne, the event was pretty laid-back. The rehearsal dinner was reportedly held at a restaurant called Black Whale Bar & Fish House. (Instead of a Michelin star, it has 3.5 stars on Yelp.) The actual reception took place at the nautically-themed seafood eatery Parker’s Garage & Oyster Saloon, described as an “easygoing venue” with a “big menu.” (My kind of spot!) And at the time of publication, any substantial details about the whole shebang are tough to scrounge together.

The chillness of it all is, of course, extremely chic. On the heels of Ashley Olsen’s uber-private pregnancy and an ongoing cultural fixation with quiet luxury, Margaret Qualley’s muted betrothal taps into the trend of hushed lifestyles. There’s something undeniably authentic in acting — and dressing — just for you, and not for an audience. As a bride, Qualley’s commitment to minimalism could be the start of a more discreet mood in celebrity nuptials. Most importantly, she just made wedding flats cool.

Feeling outfit inspiration for a special occasion? The nice thing about Qualley’s looks is they’re easy to emulate at any price point. Below, FASHION did the work for you.

Maguire Velada Cream Ballerina Ballet Flat

Crafted with a flexible sole and a soft back, these clean-cut off-white flats are the perfect entry into new bridal footwear territory. With an ever-so-subtle heel (we’re talking eight millimetres) and a softened square-toe design, they have a sophisticated finish that fits right into fancy dress codes. Best of all? The made-in-Canada shoes come in buttery smooth leather, for day-to-night comfort.

Cinq à Sept Hillary Midi-Dress

Slightly more casual than Qualley’s wedding wares, this Cinq à Sept dress has the refined air of a minimalist wedding with the versatility of a simple summer soirée. With a scoop neckline, long puffy sleeves and seamless side pockets, the voluminous tiered dress is great for any special occasion. Thanks to its crisp design and feminine silhouette, it is both chic and understated — just like the Margaret Qualley bridal uniform. It’s also been majorly marked down.

Available in 10 colours, the white iterations go with everything from wedding dresses to slouchy suits.

Reformation Jaide Dress

I know, I know. It’s not all white, so critics might say it’s not bridal. But coming from someone who has this dress, I can attest that it feels a propos at both a picnic and a summertime ceremony. With a romantic drop-waist silhouette and a lightweight linen skirt that hits just below the calves, it goes stunningly with a pair of pristine flats. And in the spirit of diverting from wedding norms, it fits the dress code perfectly.

Growing up on reality television and living most of her life in the public eye, Kendall Jenner has had her fair share of viral moments — and attention-grabbing fashion looks — over the years. And we’re always on Kendall Jenner style watch.

RELATED: Kendall Jenner Is the New Face of L’Oréal Paris

As one of the world’s most well-known nepo babies-turned-supermodels, Jenner has honed her own unique style uniform. From her show-stopping Met Gala moments to her expertly curated street style looks, the Calvin Klein and L’Oréal ambassador has certainly carved out a space in the fashion world that sets her apart from her famous sisters.

In honour of Kendall Jenner’s ever-evolving sense of style, here are some of the top model’s best looks from the last year.

August 2023

To attend a party for her 818 Tequila brand, Jenner stepped out in a sexy Gucci dress from the brand’s Fall 2023 collection. She paired the one-shoulder look with nude lingerie, slingback pumps and a Gucci shoulder bag that brought out the subtle shades of green in the dress’s sheer fabric.

While out and about in Los Angeles, Jenner channelled the California sunshine in this vibrant off-duty look. Jenner paired a bright yellow mini-dress from COS with a pair of classic black shades and completed the look with the Suzanne Small shoulder bag from Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello.

It was all about the accessories with this effortlessly cool look that Jenner sported while out and about in New York City’s East Village. The model upgraded the classic T-shirt and straight-leg jeans outfit with a pair of Gucci sunnies, leather loafers from The Row, a brown vintage Hermès Kelly and matching skinny belt.

While on a trip to Paris, Jenner modelled not one, but two Bottega Veneta looks for TikTok. The first look featured the brand’s sophisticated cotton midi-dress with a keyhole cutout. Perhaps utilizing the now-viral “wrong shoe theory,” Jenner made the chic look infinitely most interesting by opting for a classic menswear loafer from The Row instead of a sexy heel. Then, she slipped on a yellow sequined mini-dress that was quintessential Kendall Jenner style.

As creative director of the brand, Jenner wore a monochromatic look while hosting the FWRD pop-up grand opening in Los Angeles. The pearlescent white outfit featured a one-shoulder top and miniskirt set by Rick Owens paired with a white, half-moon leather bag from The Row and Yeezy heels.

While soaking up the sun on a beach holiday in the south of France, Jenner sported a breezy vacation look that screamed model off-duty. Wearing a sheer AMI Paris maxi-dress as a bikini cover-up, she completed the look with a Bottega Veneta tote bag, Gentle Monster sunglasses and flip flops from The Row.

Who could forget this Met Gala after-party look? To celebrate after the big fashion event, Jenner wore a Nensi Dojaka playsuit inspired by a look from Chanel’s Spring 1994 collection. The sheer look, which featured a fully exposed high-cut thong, was complemented by strappy Gianvito Rossi stilettos, a silver clutch, and simple stud earrings.

For one of their first public outings, Jenner wore a white tank top and brown miniskirt to a basketball game with Bad Bunny. While all eyes were initially on the rumoured couple, Jenner’s snakeskin boots by Gianmarco Lorenzi definitely stole the show.

During a night out with her Bad Bunny, Jenner chose a unique look that has been best described as a nod to the “avant apocalypse” aesthetic. The outfit included a see-through Paloma Wool top and a baguette handbag, but the real star of the look was a toss-up between the Blumarine’s Fall 2023 collection mini-skirt and knee-high boots.

Not one to shy away from the sheer dressing trend, Jenner sported another transparent look to attend an event honouring Karl Lagerfeld in New York City just days before the Met Gala. The royal blue Alexandre Vauthier couture gown featured a mock neckline and a glamorous feathered skirt, not to mention a drop-waist silhouette that made the 5-foot-10-inch model appear even taller.

Jenner stunned at the Vanity Fair Oscar party in a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier dress from the brand’s Spring 2008 haute couture collection. The look didn’t include any jewellery and Jenner wore a chic updo that allow the beauty of the bronzed gold gown with petal-like details to shine.

This article was originally published on August 3, 2023 and has been updated.

After months of anticipation, pleas from thousands of Canadian fans and even a tweet from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau himself, Taylor Swift announced on August 3 that she’ll be bringing her extremely successful (and very fashionable) worldwide Eras Tour to Toronto’s Rogers Centre for six dates in November of 2024 — that’s right, Taylor Swift will (finally) be touring Toronto.

RELATED: Taylor Swift Is In Her Midnights Fashion Era

Prior to Eras, Swift had not toured since her Reputation Stadium Tour in 2018. Since then, she’s released four new albums and three re-recordings of some of her earliest albums, a task she’s taken on to regain ownership of her oldest work. As a result, this stadium tour is fittingly presented as a journey through Swift’s entire musical career so far, which she divides into ten distinct “eras” (each named and conceptualized after every one of her albums).

And, in true superstar style, Swift has been consistently outdoing herself with her outfits for every show of this highly-anticipated tour.

With an over three-hour-long setlist of more than 40 songs, Swift has at least one themed outfit for each of her eras — and some eras have multiple costume changes, both on- and off-stage. From bedazzled power suits and ballgowns to embellished bodysuits and T-shirts, each look conceptualizes the feeling of its era through its silhouette, colours, and materials, with some even paying homage to her specific past tour looks.

So, as fans across the country scramble to snag a ticket to Swift’s only confirmed Canadian shows, we’re taking a look at some of the best Taylor Swift outfits from the Eras Tour so far.

The Lover era: A bedazzled pastel Atelier Versace bodysuit

Swift kicks off each of her Eras Tour concerts by opening with songs from her sixth studio album, Lover, and hitting the stage in this custom bedazzled Versace bodysuit with matching glittery Christian Louboutin boots. While she has two other versions of this super-sparkly bodysuit (one is mostly gold and the other is mostly purple), this costume perfectly encapsulates the Lover album as its light pink and blue jewels emulate the ethereal sky in the album’s cover art.

The Fearless era: A gold fringe Roberto Cavalli dress

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Roberto Cavalli (@roberto_cavalli)

To perform hits such as “You Belong With Me” and “Love Story” from her second studio album, Fearless, she’ll often don this gold, shimmery fringe custom Roberto Cavalli dress that’s very similar to another look the designer created for her Speak Now Tour back in 2011. For this part of the show, Swift continues to sport the glittery Louboutin boots from the Lover era and accessorizes with a rhinestone-covered guitar that her parents DIY-ed for her before the first show of the tour.

The Speak Now era: A purple Nicole + Felicia gown

Swift has a few gowns that she rotates through for this era, but this bespoke Nicole + Felicia ballgown, which she debuted the weekend that Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) was released, stands out from the rest. This dress features a simple v-neck bodice which transitions into a voluminous three-tiered sparkly ombré skirt, no doubt a nod to this album’s violet cover art. The spectacle of this dress is fitting for this portion of the show as Swift remains mostly in one spot as she performs nostalgic hits such as “Enchanted” and “Long Live.”

The Folklore era: A green Alberta Ferretti dress

A post shared by Alberta Ferretti (@albertaferretti)

To transition into one of the longest sets of the show and performs songs from her Folklore album, Swift sometimes opts to wear this flowy, light green custom Alberta Ferretti dress that’s full of texture and movement. The intricate details of the kiwi-hued dress, such as the carefully embroidered leaves around its neckline and midriff cutout, encapsulate the imaginative nature of this era.

The 1989 era: A magenta Roberto Cavalli set

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Roberto Cavalli (@roberto_cavalli)

Swift opts for fringe once again with this bespoke pink Roberto Cavalli top and skirt set that’s perfect moving around the stage as she performs upbeat hits like “Shake It Off” and “Blank Space.” The look also pays tribute to another similar two-piece set that the singer wore on her 1989 World Tour back in 2015. By replicating some of her most iconic looks, Swift is embracing an old adage that’s often true when it comes to fashion — if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

The Reputation era: A one-legged Roberto Cavalli snake-embroidered bodysuit

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Roberto Cavalli (@roberto_cavalli)

As the only look for the Reputation portion of her show, Swift wears a sequined, one-legged Roberto Cavalli bodysuit with red snakes crawling up her leg and over her torso. The snake motif is an important symbol associated with Swift’s 2017 Reputation album and subsequent 2018 Reputation Stadium Tour. And now, she uses the animal to re-claim an era of her career where she underwent intense public scrutiny. This is in reference to a period of time in 2016 when Swift was being called a “snake” for revealing that she co-wrote her then-boyfriend Calvin Harris’ popular song “This Is What You Came For,” and when Kim Kardashian effectively called Swift a snake during her infamous feud with Kanye West. Ever since, Swift has used snake symbolism to represent that time period, and any Reputatione-ra outfit just wouldn’t be complete without the motif.

The Evermore era: A whimsical Etro gown

Photography by Getty Images

In keeping with the cottagecore feel of her 2021 Evermore album, Swift wears a custom Etro dress by Marco de Vincenzo to perform some of her most emotive songs. The deep burgundy dress features a tiered skirt and an empire waist. Of course, it wouldn’t be an Eras Tour outfit without some sparkle and this look certainly doesn’t disappoint in that department.

While the typical concert uniform was once a band tee and jeans, a new era of “concert dressing” is setting a different standard for what fans wear to see their favourite live music acts — and it’s turning concerts into full-on fashion shows.

RELATED: Harry Styles Sees and Loves His Fans’ Unique Fashion Sense

The idea behind concert dressing — dressing on-theme to match the vibe of the artist one is seeing — isn’t brand new. People have been dressing according to the energy of the shows they’re attending for ages. For instance, it’s common knowledge that so-called hippie fashion (think tons of fringe, flowy dresses and lots of denim) dominated music festivals dating back to Woodstock and that an outfit for a rock show continues to include staples like leather pants and distressed fabrics. In 2023, concert dressing is taking this tradition to a whole new level.

For some, crafting the perfect concert outfit involves drawing inspiration from an artist’s music. Several concert-goers have done this by matching their look to the general sound of an artist’s discography, while others create ensembles based on particular lyrics (for example, a “wine-stained dress” is a fan favourite to wear at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour because it references a specific line from her 2014 song, “Clean”). Other fans have gone further by fully replicating looks that their favourite artists have worn themselves. Some have even caught their favourite performer’s attention with these extremely detailed concert costumes too — who can forget the iconic moment at Beychella where Queen Bey literally stopped mid-song to praise a fan who had completely recreated the on-stage look she was wearing just the weekend before?

@beautiyonce Replying to @draya___ #Beyonce#MemyselfandIbeyonce#Beychella#fyp#viral#xyzbca#blowthisup#trending ♬ original sound – 𝑩𝒆𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒆́🐝

While over-the-top concert dressing is not a totally new idea, social media has popularized the trend — after all, were you even at the show if you didn’t share your cool concert look on your feed? And there’s no doubt that an overall excitement for the return of live music and a way to celebrate seeing one’s favourite artist in person since the peak of COVID-19 has inspired fans to go all out.

In honour of fashion’s most delightful current fad, here’s a look at the evolution of concert dressing through the years.

The Rolling Stones

Photography by Getty Images

Known for their carefree and eccentric fashion choices, The Rolling Stones certainly influenced a shift in concert culture during the peak of their popularity. As their style evolved from clean-cut suits to leather pants and long hair, their fans’ fashions also began to change. By the ’70s, it was common to see tons of Mick Jagger outfit inspo at a Stones show with concert-goers replicating his outlandish style in crop tops and clashing patterns.

Madonna

Photography by Getty Images

We can’t discuss concert culture without mentioning Madonna. After bursting onto the scene in the 1980s and becoming both a major celebrity and style icon, fans would often sport Madonna-inspired looks to her concerts. And since Madonna is ever the chameleon, having evolved her look and sound countless times over the last few decades, that means fans have worn everything from homemade cone bras and penciled-in moles to feathered hair and low-rise Western pants to watch the Material Girl perform.

Britney Spears

Photography by Getty Images

As one of the most popular performers during the original wave of Y2K trends, Britney Spears’ young fans showed up to her concerts in all the most iconic styles of the time, all sported by Spears herself, of course. Baby tees, low-rise pants and kitschy accessories like butterfly clips and scrunchies would often be worn by her fans. Naturally, artist merchandise was super popular at the time, and fans would often sport Britney T-shirts at her shows.

Harry Styles

@imsarahmcveigh What people wore to Harry Styles 🍒🪩❤️‍🔥🏰 #hslotoutfit #hslot #hslotslane #harrystylesloveontour ♬ Satellite speed audio – 1D Audioz

Regarded by some as one of the most significant reasons modern concert dressing is so popular, Harry Styles fans went all out for every single one of the British pop icon’s shows during his recent two year-long tour. Often drawing from Styles’ on-stage fashion, fans wore bell bottoms, eccentric prints, platform boots, cowboy hats and lots of feather boas to Styles’ Love On Tour shows. Others would even take it further by recreating some of Styles’ icon looks for the show or re-imagining song lyrics into full-on, Met Gala-worthy costumes.

Taylor Swift

@sarahfromflorida OBSESSED with every swiftie’s outfit last night!! Taylor would be so proud!! #taylorswifterastour #erastouroutfits #erastouroutfitideas #karmaisacat #swiftietiktok #tampaerastour ♬ Bejeweled – Taylor Swift

One group of fans who are committed to dressing up for concerts is the Swifties. For those lucky enough to snag a ticket to Taylor Swift’s wildly popular Eras Tour, the outfit is a major part of the experience and a way for fans to show love to their favourite Swift albums, songs and even past looks. For example, many fans choose to wear costumes that represent their favourite “era” of Swift’s career, such as an all-black, snake-motif-filled look to represent her “Reputation” album or a westerninspired look to emulate Swift’s debut country album, “Taylor Swift.” Other fans have opted to recreate some of Swift’s red carpet looks, with a popular one being the floral Oscar de la Renta dress the singer wore to the 2021 Grammy Awards. Whatever direction they choose to take their outfit, the verdict is clear that Swifties do not mess around when it comes to their Eras Tour looks.

Beyoncé

The fashion from both Beyoncé and her fans during the singer’s current worldwide Renaissance Tour is in a league of its own. Inspired by the disco dance party vibes of Beyoncé’s Renaissance album, fans have been sporting sparkly, futuristic and western-inspired looks. And Queen Bey is matching the energy by debuting several new couture costumes at every show. As Beyoncé sings herself, “it should cost a billion to look this good.”

In case you missed it, Beyoncé is in the middle of an historic world tour — her first in seven years! — and the jaw-dropping outfits she’s been sporting have been just as captivating as her Renaissance Tour performances.

We covered the first leg of Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour looks above, and now that Queen Bey is on North American soil, we’ll do our best to log all her new concert ensembles here. First up: Canada’s very own Toronto, where Beyoncé and her wildly talented crew of backup singers and dancers performed two epic shows on July 8 and 9.

Toronto, Ontario

Beyoncé kicked off the North American leg of her Renaissance Tour by opening the show in a custom Tiffany & Co. Elsa Peretti mesh dress. The one-a-kind creation featured chains of bezel-set stones on approximately 150 feet of mesh ribbon that took over 200 hours to make. Bey complemented the look with (what else?) a Tiffany & Co. jewellery — vintage earrings and a custom anklet.

Later on in the July 8 show at Toronto’s Rogers Center, the queen debuted another new tour outfit that was giving Destiny’s Child “Survivor” (IYKYK). The pop star’s camouflage look was comprised of a sequined bodysuit, a custom sequined cropped jacket by Adidas x Ivy Park, and thigh-high heeled boots. She accessorized the shimmering camo moment with knit gloves, oversized black sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat that she took off to showcase her honey-blonde inches.

For her first Renaissance Tour concert in the U.S., Beyoncé slipped into a custom Givenchy mini-dress that was accented by intricate cut-outs and flourishes of fringe. The singer accessorized the dress with ankle-tie heels, sheer black opera gloves, and Tiffany & Co. diamonds.

For the next stop on her U.S tour, Bey fully committed to the disco cowboy aesthetic she’s been sporting all Renaissance season. Wearing a glittery red dress, the “Cuff It” singer accessorized with patent leather cowboy boots and a statement belt and necklace.

She then changed into a hot pink look that would give Margot Robbie and the rest of the Barbie movie cast a run for their money. True Beyhive members will be quick to clock the similarities of this Ivy Park outfit to the one she wore in Amsterdam and Toronto. But instead of a gown, Beyoncé turned it into a fringed romper and jacket and added another pair of thigh-high boots.

Rihanna, queen of pregnancy fashion herself, is pushing the maternity wear game forward, proving once again that maternity lingerie can be sexy, functional and comfortable all at the same time, with her latest collection for Savage X Fenty.

RELATED: Rihanna Has Her Pregnancy Outfit Formula Down Pat

In a series of Instagram posts shared by the @savagexfenty account on August 8, Rihanna, who’s currently expecting her second child with A$AP Rocky, is all smiles modelling the capsule’s black nursing bra while breastfeeding her son RZA. Of course, Rihanna isn’t the only one modelling Savage X Fenty in the post — her baby boy sports a pair of black shorts covered in the brand’s logo in an adorable mother-son matching moment.

“Not your mama’s maternity bras… designed by @badgirlriri, approved by baby RZA 🫶🏾 #SavageXMaternity,” read the caption of the announcement post.

Fans shared their enthusiasm for the surprise drop in the post’s comment section, praising Rihanna for her latest lingerie designs. “I remember in 2020 when I was breastfeeding I was like damn Riri needs to sell us fashionable maternity bras 😩. Now I need another baby,” commented one particularly enthusiastic fan.

The 35-year-old singer has been synonymous with stellar maternity style ever since her first pregnancy back in 2022 and this capsule collection further proves that the star isn’t afraid to challenge the norms of “traditional” maternity wear.

While maternity bras are often primarily focused on comfort and functionality, this collection promises all that and more with designs the brand says are both “sexy and supportive.” And, from the strappy, lacy and pastel-coloured bralettes that are already available online, it seems like the line is living up to its claims.

“The new maternity capsule is about bringing that confidence and comfort to moms at every stage of their journeys,” said the singer in a news release. “I want to remind people that you can still channel sexiness and feel-good while being a parent.”

The collection, which comes in sizes XS-4X, falls in line with the brand’s previous inclusive lines and its promise to embody “fearlessness, confidence and inclusivity” with their “styles made for everyBODY.”

Whether she was performing at the Oscars or having a night out, RiRi has consistently wowed in every new maternity outfit she’s sported since her first pregnancy. By wearing pieces not usually seen on expecting mothers, such as bra tops, tight mini-dresses, and pieces with strategic cutouts and sheer fabrics that expose her baby bump, Rihanna has ushered in a new trend of maternity dressing that empowers expecting mothers to embrace feeling sexy and wear what they want, regardless of society’s traditional (and sometimes subconscious) belief that pregnant people should dress conservatively.

As she’s demonstrated with her boundary-defying looks throughout both pregnancies, Rihanna chooses to highlight her bumps as a way to celebrate the joys of pregnancy and motherhood. This bold profession of love has even inspired other expecting mothers on TikTok to try replicating some of her iconic maternity looks.

@aylawoodruff_ Going for Rihanna Island Vibes🌸✨🌴 What do we think? #revolve #outfit #vacation #dress #pregnant ♬ Good Vibes (Instrumental) – Ellen Once Again

“When I found out I was pregnant, I thought to myself, ‘There’s no way I’m going to go shopping in no maternity aisle. I’m sorry — it’s too much fun to get dressed up,'” she said as she graced the cover of Vogue‘s May 2022 issue.

Since then, Rihanna has not only stayed true to her fashionable self but has inspired countless others to look at maternity style through a more liberated, and hopefully less judgemental, lens. And, with baby number two still on the way, we can’t wait to see what jaw-dropping looks pregnant RiRi pulls out of her closet next.

In a series of seaside Instagram posts shared on July 30, Dua Lipa not only reminded us that she’s actually a Mermaid Barbie in real life but that the controversial exposed thong trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

RELATED: The Exposed Bra Trend Is Officially Back

In her new vacation-inspired pics, Lipa wears a red see-through crochet dress with a long train, her dark brown hair fittingly styled in beachy mermaidcore waves. The real star of the outfit, though, was the simple black thong that was clearly visible under the knit gown.

A post shared by DUA LIPA (@dualipa)

This isn’t the first time that the singer has hopped onto the cheeky exposed thong trend either. In fact, she’s sported different versions of the divisive style on several occasions over the past few months, including a few weeks ago at the Barbie movie premiere in Los Angeles.

Lipa looked the part of Mermaid Barbie in a custom crystal chainmail Bottega Veneta gown that had an almost wet appearance. Due to the look’s semi-sheer nature, the pop star’s sparkly underwear was on display.

A post shared by DUA LIPA (@dualipa)

While Lipa has mastered the art of the exposed thong, she’s just one of the celebs who have hopped on this trend in recent years. One of the first modern reinventions of this audacious look can be traced back to Hailey Bieber‘s 2019 Met Gala outfit. Bieber was giving Barbie before Barbiecore was even a thing in a bubblegum pink Alexander Wang look that she paired with a high ponytail and pearl earrings. The long-sleeve gown featured a super low back which, of course, exposed a light pink thong that was adorned with the word “wang” in sequin block letters.

And, according to her most recent New Year’s Eve outfit, Bieber is seemingly still a fan of the exposed thong. To ring in 2023, she sported a little black Mugler dress that featured several cutouts, including one that appeared to show off matching black undies.

Not one to shy away from a bold outfit choice, Miley Cyrus also rocked the bold trend to usher in the 2023 New Year. While co-hosting NBC’s Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party with her godmother, the one and only Dolly Parton, Cyrus sported a little black dress with strategically placed side cutouts that appeared to display the singer’s underwear.

Other stars have sported the look for more casual occasions, such as Bella Hadid’s 2019 street style look where the model wore low-rise blue baggy jeans over a high-cut black thong.

A post shared by Fashionlights (@mhtfashionn)

While these are all recent examples of celebs putting their spin on showing a little skin, the exposed thong trend was a staple of Y2K fashion. In the late ’90s and early 2000s, the fad was commonly referred to as a “whale tail” in which one’s thong would be worn just high enough to peak out above a pair of low-rise jeans. Stars like Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Halle Berry and Christina Aguilera helped popularize the trend at the time, and now, the exposed thong is having a renaissance along with countless other Y2K fads that have been revived — whether we like it or not.

Do you have to be a sports fan to appreciate a good athletic outfit? The answer is an unequivocal no. Just look to skiing. You can embrace your inner ski bunny without ever hitting the cold icy slopes by wearing your cutest intarsia knit and furry boots for après. And do you think those girlies wearing two-piece exercise sets topped with oversized white shirts are all coming from pilates? The same goes for tennis — follow the Kate Middleton Wimbledon style playbook and be the most stylish courtside spectator in colourful day dresses, playful prints (including a penchant for polka dots) and crisp tailoring.

Case in point: Kate Middleton’s masterclass in tennis match fashion at Wimbledon on July 3. From the minty fresh Balmain blazer that was giving vintage Princess Diana and perfectly pleated skirt to her bouncy blowout, the royal’s ensemble was a bullseye (reader, the author knows this is not a tennis analogy) for the tennis tournament’s somewhat conservative “formal daywear” dress code.

Here, we round up some of the Princess of Wales’ most valuable fashion plays when it comes to taking in a little tennis.

Wimbledon may be over, but the outfit inspiration will live on for weeks to come. As the tennis event of the year, the prestigious British sporting extravaganza reliably draws big stars, and by extension, big fashion moments. And this year did not disappoint. A-list guests arrived in a series of polished, and sometimes subversive, takes on traditional preppy style. Some trends to come out of the affair? Monochromatic colour palettes, reimagined suits and, unsurprisingly, a sea of quiet luxury.

RELATED: How to Achieve the Quiet Luxury Look On a Budget

Below, we present the best outfits of the season, plus how to achieve them yourself.

Ariana Grande

Instead of serving sporty vibes, the singer went viral over the weekend for her refined minimalist ensemble. While sitting in the crowd, she embodied the overcast weather of the London locale in a tonal grey cashmere sweater and matching flared skirt from Ralph Lauren. She finished the look with a Wimbledon baseball cap and a pair of avant-garde Loewe heels for an elevated take on tennis match fashion.

Get the look:

Take a page from Grande’s book and opt for an all-grey A-line silhouette for your next tennis match. May we suggest this pullover design by Mango? It has a ribbed fabric with a subtle flare skirt that hits the ankle just so — making it the optimal cozy-meets-chic option for any court-side viewer.

Buy it here: Mango Rib-Knit Boatneck A-Line Dress, was $89.99, now $44.96

These days, slightly weird footwear is always in season, and these toy pumps by Loewe fit the bill like none other. With a lustrous finish, a square-toe design and a sculptural heel, they are key to modernizing an otherwise old-school preppy ensemble.

Buy it here: Loewe Toy Leather Pumps, $1,560

We love a high-low queen! While the singer went luxury with her footwear, she chose beloved (and accessibly priced) Canadian jeweller Mejuri for her earrings, wearing a pair of gold vermeil and freshwater pearl hoops.

Buy it here: Bold Pearl Trio Hoop Earrings, $128

A must when watching any outdoor match, the humble tennis cap communicates that while you may be fashionable, you also know sports. This unisex design comes in 14 colours, but we suggest opting for white to emulate Grande’s crisp styling.

Buy it here: ’47 Unisex-Adult Baseball Cap, $39.99

Kate Middleton

No one does Wimbledon dressing quite like Kate Middleton. With her signature polished tailoring and streamlined silhouettes, the Princess of Wales embodies the formal daywear dress code of the world famous event. This season, she stood out in an assortment of green ensembles, including the Roland Mouret emerald dress with playful pleating she wore on July 16. Always thoughtfully accessorized, she completed the look with square shades and a pair of Gianvito Rossi suede heels. Sure, it may seem like a daring footwear choice for an outing involving grass, but if anyone can make it work, it’s a seasoned on-the-court attendee like Middleton.

Get the look:

Wimbledon ASOS dress

There is so much possibility in a midi dress. The devil is in the details with this fresh green design, which features flutter sleeves, front-and-centre ruching and a subtle back slit. It may not be an exact replica of Middleton’s get-up, but it achieves the same thing: innovating a tried and true silhouette. Not to mention the fun colour.

Buy it here: ASOS Linen-Look Flutter Sleeve Midi Dress, $88

suede nude heels

These pointed-toe stilettos come in a leather lining and a soft-pink suede outsole. With a 3.25-inch heel, they’ll take you from work to a patio to — if you’re wild like Kate — a tennis court. And they’re on sale.

Buy it here: Jimmy Choo Pink Romy 85 Pumps $880, now $528

Emma Corrin

The high socks. The brown leather loafers. The billowing, boxy silhouette. At Wimbledon, Emma Corrin’s outfit took the traditional aspects of preppy attire and reinvented them. The actor, who identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, pulled up to a tennis match on July 6 in a pale yellow oversized short suit by Ralph Lauren with a Miu Miu handbag and pair of sunnies. Debuting a bleached buzzcut and playing with oversized proportions, their androgynous take on the classically masculine style was the perfect play on Wimbledon tradition.

Get the look:

Aritzia short suit

Take it from Corrin, everyone needs a summer suit. This set by Aritzia melds the oversized comfort of the actor’s Wimbledon ’fit with polished tailoring for everyday wear. The single-breasted blazer features a notched lapel, pockets and structured shoulder pads, while the high-waisted shorts offer an elastic waistband and a gloriously wide-leg fit.

Buy it here: Wilfred Milestone Blazer, $228; Wilfred Alanya Short, $98

We know, we know. Socks? Trust, when you’re looking to perfect the art of the androgynous suited sets, they make the outfit. These high-rise dress socks by La Dearchuu are made with premium cotton and provide breathability for hot summer days. Plus, they come with six pairs!

Buy it here: La Dearchuu Men’s Dress Socks Rib Cotton Solid Crew Socks, $23

Jourdan Dunn

Looking chic from head to toe, British model Jourdan Dunn put a summery spin on the minimalism of the moment in a yellow-on-yellow ensemble. Sporting a Ralph Lauren cable knit crewneck, a lightweight satin skirt and pair of white open-toe pumps, her street style-worthy look was the perfect balance between being weather-minded, tennis-appropriate and just plain cool.

Get the look:

With the iconic Ralph Lauren design, this crewneck has added shoulder button-up detailing that makes it feel fresh. With classic ribbed cuffs and a relaxed fit that subtly hits the hips, it is the only sweater you’ll actually want to wear in the midst of high summer temps.

Buy it here: Lauren by Ralph Lauren Aran-Knit Button-Shoulder Cotton Sweater, was $191, now $132

yellow skirt

This maxi skirt is not only alluring because it reminds us of lemonade, but its flowy terry fabric is extremely versatile. Made with a subtle waist-accentuating fit, it takes you from the beach to a seat on A-list-filled bleachers.

Buy it here: Musier Paris Levant Skirt, $168.73

The slip-on kitten heel is a summertime saving grace. This white square-toe pair by Tony Bianco is great for day or night, thanks to its elevated buckle detailing and timeless design. Wear it with a breezy suit or style it with a vibrant monochrome skirt set, à la Jourdan Dunn.

Buy it here: Tony Bianco Asar Sandal, $237.76

Jonathan Bailey

Who doesn’t appreciate a commitment to linen? At the men’s singles final match, the Bridgerton actor sported a breathable three-piece Purple Label design by Ralph Lauren (notice a theme?). In a sea of other neutral menswear suits (as seen on Andrew Garfield and Nick Jonas), Bailey stood out thanks to his jacket’s interesting tie-up detail, his perfectly anonymous sunglasses and his sheer giddiness sitting alongside Wicked co-star Ariana Grande (see below).

Eyewear protection is key for outdoor sports spectatorship. Sticking to Bailey’s Ralph Lauren theme, this pair comes in a gradient gold-to-brown lens that’s ideal for a summer day. Plus, they’re prescription-friendly!

Buy it here: Ralph by Ralph Lauren Polarized Aviator Sunglasses, $106.17

These tailored linen pants are the embodiment of quiet luxury. With a concealed front fastening, refined straight-leg cut and mid-rise fit, they’re both breezy and professional. In the heat of the summer, they’re sure not to overheat you — and that’s a selling point in and of itself.

Women in politics get a lot of flack for their fashion choices. Hillary Clinton’s pantsuits have inspired think pieces. Michelle Obama’s sleeveless silhouettes were heavily scrutinized. Even Kamala Harris’s skinny jeans have been the topic of controversy. All in all, it’s tricky being a stylish woman in the White House. But Issa Rae, who plays President Barbie in the upcoming Barbie movie, has used the film’s viral press tour to craft a new kind of commander-in-chief uniform.

RELATED: Margot Robbie’s Transformation Into Barbie Is Officially Complete

President Barbie has been around since 1992, with Mattel releasing new iterations of the doll over the years. And like everything in the franchise’s plastic universe, it’s a pretty glitzy gig. It’s also decidedly low-stakes, with responsibilities like adding cherries on top of sundaes. (Delicious and important!) For the live-action film, Rae helped envision President Barbie’s costume: a ballgown and a pageant-ready sash that reads “President” in bubble letters. “It was tapping into who six to eight-year-old me thought a female president would look like, and living in that world really informed how I played the president,” she told Teen Vogue.

So it should come as no surprise that to promote the film, Rae and her stylist Wouri Vice have been treating the press tour as a glam-filled campaign trail. She’s been giving presidential waves, donning coordinated sets, and of course, wearing a lot of pink — even though she hates the colour. That’s a sacrifice in the name of public service.

Photography by Getty Images

At the film’s world premiere in Los Angeles on July 9, Issa Rae was in true President Barbie form. While gesturing a classic crowd-facing wave on the pink carpet, she wore a custom floor-grazing Marc Bouwer gown with a plunging chest cutout, structured shoulders and a statement bow detail. The bicep-bearing design reportedly took inspiration from Michelle Obama, and the regal velvet fabric further commanded a powerful presence.

Photography by Getty Images

A few days later, at the Barbie premiere in London, Issa Rae stepped out in two striking looks. For the screening itself, she wore a hot pink mini dress with a structured bodice and a dramatically ruched leg slit. Later, at the photocall, she emerged in a ’60s-inspired PatBo dress with a multicoloured swirling design and long green feather trim. It’s a retro look that would undoubtedly make Jackie O proud.

Photography by Getty Images

Her other London outings emitted reimagined preppy style. On July 12, she wore a high-waisted pink leather miniskirt with a white tank top and matching sunglasses. Later that day, she changed into a midriff-bearing two-piece set with bedazzled buttons by Self-Portrait. She commemorated the leg of the press trip with an Instagram post captioned, “This Barbie is on strike,” a reference to actors joining the ongoing writers’ strike in Hollywood. Amazing styling and a show of solidarity with her constituents? A well-rounded presidential slay. And just one of many.

Last month, while in Australia, she leaned into power suits, with a structured multicoloured blazer dress, a neon slouchy suit, and a bright monochrome ensemble that featured an oversized frilly bow in place of a tie.

For the Barbie celebration party in Sydney, she opted for a Givenchy maxi dress, with a sheer design and a slip underneath. This seamless wardrobe shift encapsulates the essence of the Mattel-made president. After all, when you’re the leader of Barbie Land, your duties are saccharine instead of severe — and the same goes for your outfits.

Photography by Getty Images

That’s not to say some of her looks haven’t been more conservative. Kicking off the press tour at a Beverly Hills photocall in June, her monochromatic cream-coloured ensemble — comprising wide-leg pants and a matching top à la quiet luxury — stood out as a relaxed interpretation of the traditional buttoned-up pantsuit. From mini-dresses to sophisticated separates, Issa Rae’s sartorial take on Madam President captures what would happen if leading a country was all about throwing impromptu dance parties and decorating frozen desserts. In other words: No dress code, just vibes.

Sure, it may not all fly in the actual Oval Office. But that’s neither here nor there. This Barbie is a President! And she has our vote.

No one’s doing Barbiecore better than Margot Robbie this summer. As the Australian actress travels the globe to promote her titular role in the highly-anticipated live-action Barbie movie, her style has been heavily inspired by the iconic Mattel doll’s fashion sense, with every outfit looking like it was perfectly plucked out of Barbie Land.

And, between the seemingly endless brand collaborations, elaborate press events and unique experiential marketing tactics (we’re looking at you, Barbie Dreamhouse Airbnb) promoting the film, it only makes sense that Robbie would lean into this one-of-a-kind character’s style.

Robbie is trying her hand at method dressing — which, for some actors, is the process of dressing in the aesthetic of the character they play or movie they’re in — and her style is clearly deliberate, detail-oriented and, of course, extremely pink. These outfit choices are helping to blur the lines between where Robbie ends and Barbie begins, making her appear as one and the same with the classic character and further solidifying her status as one of the biggest movie stars of our time.

At the film’s world premiere in Los Angeles on July 9, Robbie wore perhaps her most literal Barbie look yet, solidifying that she is now and forever in her Barbie era. The actor transformed into 1960s Barbie for the pink carpet premiere, rocking a custom black sequinned Schiaparelli couture gown with matching opera gloves.

And last week, Robbie was on a whirlwind Barbie-dressing streak that was nearly impossible to keep track of. There was her very ’90s “Totally Hair: 25th Anniversary” Barbie doll reference on July 7 (complete with crimped hair and groovy printed minidress, not to mention an epic vintage Versace moment a few days earlier and the below 1984 “Day to Night” Barbie look capture by Robbie’s hairstylist Bryce Scarlett.

On Australia’s Bondi Beach on June 29, Robbie wore another Barbie ensemble that appeared to have been borrowed directly from the iconic doll. Although the outfit, surprisingly, didn’t feature any pink, Robbie wore a custom black and white striped Hervé Léger mini-dress, Barbie’s classic white-rimmed vintage sunglasses and black Manolo Blahnik heeled mules as a nod to the first-ever Barbie doll which was released in 1959.

The look, which was initially shared by Robbie’s stylist, Andrew Mukamal, on Instagram, is strikingly similar to the doll without it being an exact replica. The 1959 outfit consisted of a black and white strapless leotard while Robbie went for a more modern adaptation with a mini as she paid tribute to the ensemble. The references didn’t just stop at the clothes and accessories, though, as Robbie also sported a high, retro-inspired ponytail, which looks strikingly similar to the hairstyle the original doll wears.

Robbie even remained on-theme as she touched down in Australia earlier this week. As she walked through the airport, the star wore a vintage pink Chanel blazer while carrying the chicest matching light-pink luggage set that we could totally imagine Barbie using to travel the world.

She exemplified her commitment to emulating Barbie’s iconic style once again when she attended a press stop for the film in Los Angeles last weekend. As she channelled her inner doll, Robbie sported two all-pink looks during the trip that were almost too on-point.

The first consisted of a light pink, two-piece bustier and pleated miniskirt Bottega Veneta set and coordinating Manolo Blahnik peep-toe heels. In photos that her stylist once again shared on Instagram, Robbie truly couldn’t have looked any more Barbie-like as she enthusiastically posed in front of a perfectly matching pink convertible with a matching handbag and the iconic white sunglasses, of course.

While attending a press event in Beverly Hills the next day, Barbie once again came to life through Robbie as the actress wore a pink polka-dot halter Valentino mini-dress with a yellow shoulder bag and white Manolo Blahnik pumps. We’d be remiss if we didn’t note that we’re sensing a theme with the star’s favoured-footwear choice — who knew Barbie was such a Manolo fan? If their universes were to ever collide, we’re sure Carrie Bradshaw and Barbie would become besties over this shared obsession alone.

Robbie’s commitment to method dressing for the role isn’t new either. Back in April at CinemaCon 2023 for one of the film’s first promotional stops, Robbie sported a pink and white gingham two-piece Prada ensemble that was reminiscent of two dresses Barbie wears in one of the movie’s first trailers.

Some of Robbie’s co-stars have also received the method-dressing memo and are leaning into their character’s fashion senses as well.

Ryan Gosling, who plays one of the many Kens in the film, already went viral for his CinemaCon 2023 look that consisted of a pink sweater and a white T-shirt with “From Director Greta Gerwig” written across the front in Barbie font. And the Canadian movie star mostly recently channelled his real-life Kenergy last night in Toronto.

At the Canadian press event, Gosling sported a head-to-toe Gucci look consisting of a pastel blue suit with a pink shirt. Simu Liu, who plays a fellow Ken in the movie, also attended the press stop and showed off his Barbie-inspired look with a striped pink shirt under a retro green leather jacket and brown trousers.

In just the past few months, this cast, and particularly Robbie, have proven just how creative they can be as they dive deeper into the method dressing opportunities this film presents. And why shouldn’t they? There’s perhaps no other franchise that is as fun, carefree and colourful as Barbie, and it’s great to see the stars taking full advantage of all the fashionable, once-in-a-career outfit choices they have. After all, it’s Barbie’s World, we’re just living in it.

This Barbie is freeing the nipple on the red carpet! Singer Dua Lipa wore a crystal mesh gown to the world premiere of the highly anticipated Barbie movie on July 9. And while most interpretations of Barbiecore have been either replicas of iconic Barbie outfits or head-to-toe pink (for the record, no complaints here!), Lipa’s custom chainmail Bottega Veneta look — whose all-over shine gave it an almost wet appearance — was the perfect modern fashion choice for her Mermaid Barbie character.

Dua’s look was right on trend — naked dresses (and MIA bras) are having a prolonged moment, as evidenced most recently by at the Fall 2023 couture shows in Paris where the transparent trend appeared in street style looks, on the runways of Jean Paul Gaultier and Schiaparelli, and on Florence Pugh, who famously freed the nipple wearing sheer Valentino. For the Barbie world premiere, Dua Lipa accessorized her shimmery mesh moment with matching undies and jewellery by Tiffany & Co.

Dua Lipa, of course, has a buzzy cameo in Greta Gerwig’s star-studded Barbie movie that hits theatres on July 21. The pop star also appears on the film’s sure-to-be epic soundtrack with the summer dance bop “Dance the Night” alongside artists like Lizzo, Charli XCX, Nicki Minaj and Billie Eilish — the latter two both attended the L.A. premiere, too. And no, their outfits didn’t disappoint.

There’s perhaps no other movie star these days who takes as many style risks as Florence Pugh. The British actress has quite the track record when it comes to her daring fashion choices and Florence Pugh added to that list once again with another free the nipple moment.

RELATED: Florence Pugh Is the Queen of Hair Transformations

While attending the Valentino Fall 2023 Couture show on July 5, Pugh went braless in a sheer, lilac gown that featured layers of draped fabric, a plunging neckline and a ruffled collar. She looked both edgy and delicate as the dress’ shocking transparency and revealing backless silhouette directly contrasted with its light material and flowy train — a uniquely audacious combination that the Little Women star has worn on several occasions.

She also debuted a fresh take on her buzzcut, which she first sported at this year’s Met Gala, as she turned heads with a new bright pink colour. The movie starlet allowed her tulle Valentino gown and the vibrant shade of her latest hairstyle to shine by pairing the outfit with a classic glam makeup look, minimalistic diamond earrings and her iconic septum ring.

Between her new ‘do and the shockingly sheer dress, fashion fans quickly took to social media as they shared Pugh’s latest couture look. And, while some championed her expressive style choices, others weren’t the biggest fans of the unique look. But after last year’s controversy, this shouldn’t be a surprise.

In case you don’t remember, during last year’s couture fashion week in Rome, the actress generated a ton of controversy online as she arrived at the Valentino Fall 2022 Couture show wearing a sheer, pink gown, with her nipples fully visible.  At the time, Florence Pugh addressed the nipple controversy on her Instagram by saying, “Listen, I knew when I wore that incredible Valentino dress that there was no way there wouldn’t be a commentary on it. Whether it be negative or positive, we all knew what we were doing. I was excited to wear it, not a wink of me was nervous. I wasn’t before, during or even now after.”

After a lengthy caption in which she called out body-shamers and double standards, she ended the post by sharing a photo of her covering her nipples with her fingers and completed her caption with, “Oh! The last slide is for those who feel more comfortable with that inch of darker skin to be covered… #fuckingfreethefuckingnipple”

A post shared by Florence Pugh (@florencepugh)

Pugh followed up the controversial pink Valentino dress a few months later with a different see-through, nipple-freeing look in October 2022. In another head-to-toe Valentino look, Pugh sported a sheer, sequin-detailed crop top and maxi skirt set as she attended Spring 2023 Paris fashion week — which also caught a lot of media attention.

Back in September 2022, Pugh seemingly made a different kind of statement through her audacious outfit choice at the premiere of Olivia Wilde’s film Don’t Worry Darling, in which she starred opposite Harry Styles and, allegedly, endured a ton of backstage drama while making the movie. As she attended the red carpet in none other than a Valentino Fall 2022 couture glittery, sheer dress with feathery heels and a classic old-Hollywood-esque glamour beauty look, some onlookers suspected that the actress’ bold style choice was sending a message of defiance in response to how she’d been treated surrounding the release of the film. And, while she and her cast-mates outfits each had their own individual style, Pugh’s look did not complement any of her co-stars’, making the few group shots from the event look chaotic and out-of-sync.

Yet, Pugh did drop some hints that this may have been her intention with wearing the daring look all along. When asked what she found inspiring about working on the film during the premiere, she seemingly confirmed suspicions of behind-the-scenes drama as she said, “I think it’s very very inspiring to see a woman push back and say ‘no,’ and question everything. It’s very exciting to see a woman do that on and off camera.” Knowing the details of the drama surrounding the film, that defiant attitude certainly came through in her outfit choice for the Hollywood occasion.

From her most-talked-about looks of just the past few years, the actor has certainly proved that she’s consistently one to watch both on and off the red carpet. While she’s proven to be loyal to Valentino for her outfits, the question remains: what will she wear next? Perhaps Florence Pugh will wear more free the nipple-inspired looks as she gears up to promote her role in the second instalment of the highly-anticipated Dune series? Only time will tell what Pugh’s next major fashion move will be, but we’ll surely be keeping an eye on her ever-evolving style.

There are a few things we can be absolutely certain of when it comes to Cardi B. She likes to be a little chaotic on Twitter. She knows how to make a going-out anthem. And she will never, under any circumstance, miss an opportunity to serve a look. Currently in Paris for couture week, Cardi B has already emerged as the street style star to rival the runways.

RELATED: The Most Exciting Street Style At Fall 2023 Couture Week in Paris

Arguably the most prestigious and exclusive event of the fashion calendar, couture week is brimming with exceptional craftsmanship, intricate details and ultra-VIP guest lists. It’s intense, and yes, a little ridiculous — and Cardi B revels in the silliness of it all. Since the couture Fall 2023 shows kicked off on July 3, Miss Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar (yep, that’s her real name!) has been in on the joke, while sporting extravagant ensembles with the help of her stylist Kollin Carter.

To be fair, in a post-Doja-Cat-covered-in-Swarovski-crystals world, no outfit at couture week is really that surprising. But Cardi B has managed to push the envelope by blending clothing with performance. Favouring body-hugging bodices, feathery mania and blinged-out accessorizing, the star continues to bring her Grammy-winning artistic presence to each new ensemble. Is there anything more couture than that?

To kick off the week, the 30-year-old rapper sat front row at Schiaparelli show in a custom ensemble. She walked up the steps of the venue in a voluminous feathered cape atop a long black dress embellished with the brand’s signature gold detailing. Layered bangles were stacked on her wrists, and dangling gold-plated ears served as avant-garde earrings. Appearing particularly avian-like, she extended out her arms while posing for pictures — like a bird ready to take flight.

A few hours later, Cardi B attended the Thom Browne runway presentation in a new, equally campy look. Wearing a tweed suit dress with decidedly conservative tailoring, she added Cardi-esque embellishments with a gold chain link belt, a clock-shaped handbag and a towering, view-obstructing headpiece. Seated front row between Diane Keaton and Anna Wintour, the “Money” rapper emitted the aesthetic ease of a well-do-to older woman, while bringing her penchant for revealing risk-taking into the mix. And you know what? It works!

Beyond publicized stops at fashion shows, her entire stay in the City of Light has been filled with couture-level fashion. On July 4, she headed out to do some light shopping in a head-to-toe Valentino catsuit and XL cape, as one does. Clearly, this is a woman who doesn’t bother conforming to trends. Minimalism is in, you say? She’ll take all the pattern-mixing, colour-blocking and exaggerated proportions she can get.

Case in point: The following day, Cardi B pulled up to the Balenciaga show in a frothy white feathered overcoat. The billowing garment was a statement in and of itself, but she later took it off to reveal the real star of the outfit: a sequin-covered bodysuit that extended into high-heeled boots (that’s right, they were on and the same). While posing with her partner Offset, her bow-shaped bag — which presumably served no real purpose, storage-wise — trailed down the Parisian sidewalk.

Photography by Getty Images

Shortly after this, she emerged in a patterned catsuit for the Jean Paul Gaultier show, complete with tattoo-like prints of suns, hands and chains. To complement the surrealist one-piece, she wore silver bangles, chunky chokers and industrial hoop earrings. As she emerged from her hotel to a crowd of photographers, Cardi B strutted slowly and twirled dramatically. From her blown-out hair to her symmetrically slit eyebrows, the look — and subsequent posing — encapsulated Cardi B’s commitment to crafting a memorable sartorial moment.

Photography by Getty Images

At this point, the artist is no stranger to going all out for the sake of fashion. Never forget the time she showed up to the 2021 AMAs in an avant-garde — if not kinda freaky — gold-plated Schiaparelli mask. At the 2023 Grammys, she offered a surrealist take on the hooded dress trend in a sculptural Gaurav Gupta Couture gown. Most recently, at this year’s star-studded Met Gala, she was arguably the best dressed after stepping out in not one or two, but four completely different outfits that all met the Karl Lagerfeld-themed dress code. Cardi B will go to great lengths for a style moment. And the Paris couture Fall 2023 shows are the greatest indication yet.

The best part? She dresses like nobody’s watching. She’s not trying to hit the most serious pose for every angle. She’s relishing in the fun of fashion while taking risks that feel true to her personality. To borrow her wording, she’s never regular, degular or schmegular. Cardi B is a fashion girl through and through.

I’m a simple gal. When I see new photos of pregnant Rihanna, I stop what I’m doing and pay my respects. Currently expecting her second child, the singer and beauty mogul is certainly not new to pushing the boundaries of maternity dressing. But this time around, her outfit recipes overwhelmingly have one common secret ingredient: the teeny tiny top.

RELATED: Rihanna’s Second Pregnancy Style Watch Is Underway

At the Louis Vuitton Menswear Spring 2024 show on June 20, she pulled up in an elaborate denim bra-and-pant ensemble emblazoned with pixelated camouflage. Donning ’90s makeup, layered necklaces and her baby bump on full display, the now-viral look epitomizes expectant Rihanna’s style prowess. Then on June 26, the luxury brand released its campaign for the Louis Vuitton Menswear Spring 2024 collection which featured RiRi in another cropped matching ensemble. ICYMI: During her first pregnancy in 2022, she made headlines for pushing the boundaries of maternity acceptability with mini dresses, slinky separates and sheer chemises. A year and one baby later, Rihanna’s current style is still about challenging conventions of pregnancy dressing. And nowhere is this more evident than through her newfound unofficial uniform, in which fun-size tops reign supreme.

It all started with her second pregnancy announcement. When performing at the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show, Rihanna used her costume to strategically share the news that baby number two was on the way. Sporting a blood-red breastplate by Loewe, the armour-like garment functioned as a strapless bra. Layered atop a bright skintight catsuit that accentuated her bump, the sculptural brassiere unsurprisingly sent the internet ablaze. By strategically revealing and concealing her belly, this non-verbal pregnancy declaration foreshadowed that Rihanna’s style in the coming nine months would be, once again, something to watch.

Indeed, RiRi’s second pregnancy style has been a parade of crop tops, bralettes and belly-baring baby tees. Whether she’s running errands with partner A$AP Rocky or making fashionably late entrances to high-brow industry events, she stays pretty faithful to her go-to formula. And each time, it blends seamlessly into her environment. On a dinner date in Paris back in April, she paired a humongous hooded patchwork coat and baggy cargo pants with a grey cut-off tank. A month earlier, during an even more casual outing, she fashioned her own crop top by under-tucking a preppy polo and pairing it with relaxed low-slung jeans.

This is also a technique that can be easily dressed up. During an evening out in New York City in May, Rihanna put a playful spin on the skin-baring style with a fuzzy halter and wrap skirt. That same week, she donned a leather trench done up only at the top to reveal a black bralette and micro-mini skirt, for a decidedly sexier vibe.

Photography by Getty Images

This is not to say the tiny top is all Rihanna wears. Her excessively embellished gown at the 2023 Met Gala was a riff on the traditional bridal silhouette, and April street style pictures showed her with a lengthy tube top. But it’s worth applauding the genius that lies in her oft-employed outfit recipe, ready to be reused at any time. It lets the baby bump breathe. It makes for an easier shopping experience. It allows for ample belly accessorizing. There’s an undeniable power in having a tried-and-true outfit formula, whether you’re pregnant or not. And if RiRi has shown us anything, it’s that sticking in the realm of certain sartorial parameters creates opportunities for outside-the-box experimentation.

Case in point: At the 2023 Oscars, she wore three looks that each gave a variation on her crop-top sensibilities. On the red carpet, her outfit comprised an Alaïa bra layered atop a sheer bodysuit. To perform, she donned a mesh babydoll lingerie dress with a bedazzled bra peeking through. Backstage, she was pictured in a mint green Bottega Veneta sash-like belly shirt. All styles were completely different from one another while emphasizing her maternal body in similar ways. Therein lies the beauty of opting for a non-traditional shirt.

Photography by Getty Images

With each red carpet, billboard shrine and street-style outing, Rihanna’s crop top-heavy ensembles always show her belly, while pushing back on the idea that such styles only belong on flat stomachs. Steve Jobs had his turtle necks. Karl Lagerfeld had his white ponytail and exaggerated collar. Pregnant Rihanna has her crop tops. Once again, I’m taking notes.
